Roadhouse
This project provides support to the St Vincent de Paul Roadhouse by assisting to prepare and serve meals to Canberra’s homeless and destitute people once a week, and collecting and providing warm clothes, socks, underwear, and toiletries. We also support their annual Xmas party by donating smoked hams and fruit cake slices.

School Breakfasts
Attending school on an empty stomach can be detrimental to a child’s ability to learn. This project aims to provide breakfast to students who otherwise might not start the day with a meal, and thus improve their learning outcomes. We help fund breakfast programs at Calwell High School and Melrose High Schools, and have donated funding towards the GLOW program for senior girl students at Calwell High School.

Lions Youth Haven
Lions Youth Haven is a working farm that provides a refuge and support for young people in situations of crisis. It aims to enable disengaged young people to regain self-respect and confidence, and in the outdoors to learn about and develop their own dignity in an outdoor environment. It is run by all Lions Clubs in Canberra with each Club having members on the Board of Directors. Our Club provides three members on the Board, makes regular donations to the education program, and participates in monthly working bees to assist in maintaining the facility, while two members, Lions Paul and Owen, undertake maintenance projects at LYH each week.
Youth of the Year
This project seeks to develop the young leaders of tomorrow through a public speaking event. High School students are encouraged to answer impromptu questions from a panel of judges and then to give a 3-minute prepared presentation on a subject of their choosing. The outstanding students win a prize and then progress to Zone, District, and National events.
Disaster Relief
The Lions Clubs International Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund provides financial support to Lions Clubs around the world when undertaking disaster relief in their local community. Canberra City Lions Club makes regular donation to this fund to support victims of disaster such as bushfires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and volcano eruptions. In 2021-22 the Club was awarded the Model Club 200% LCIF Award four donating $(US)1000 per member to the disaster relief fund.
